A
friend of ours invited us to hike Mt. Timpanogus Saturday morning to
watch the sunrise! We didn't know much about the hike and thought it
sounded like a lot of fun so we agreed. We all met up at the trail head
at 2 am. (in order to get there on time to see the sun come up). I think
we were expecting a fun little casual night hike that might be a little
long but overall fairly easy.....14 miles later we realized this hike
was more than that. The hike was mostly uphill switchbacks over and
around two mountains. One of the most amazing sites of the hike was in
the early morning, looking up to see several small groups of people
ahead climbing up the hill and all you can see are their trails of
flashlights. You wouldn't believe how many people were hiking at 2 am.
About halfway through the hike up we decided to turn out our lights and
travel by moonlight. Probably one of the best decisions of the night!
There were times I questioned our decision to do this level of a hike,
let alone at two in the morning, when we could have been sleeping.
However, the moment you reach the top and you see the city lights below
and the distance you've climbed, it's so worth it! It's so rewarding.
And to see the sun peak over the mountain for the first time that day,
it's breathtaking. Even romantic. On the hike down it was then bright
enough to view the scenery of the dark mountain we just climbed. The
valley was covered in so many vibrant colors of wild flowers and we were
even lucky enough to witness a heard of wild goats coming into the
valley to graze. Such a beautiful hike! We both determined we loved it
and were so glad we decided to hike it.....but that it would probably
just be a one time hike ;) Yet we will always encourage you to do
it...at least once!!
You can definitely see how tired we all were by sunrise!
Before
the hike we went to a concert at a place called Veloru that a mission
friend of Ethan's was in. Such a sweet venue that was just so off the
beaten path. It wasn't necessarily a place you'd catch Ethan and I at
before this concert but now it's a place we hope to return to in the
future.
Saturday
after the hike we got back about 11 am and slept pretty much all day
then went on a double date with some friends of ours. Ethan has been
dying to go to an arcade so we went to Nickel City Arcade in Provo. He
was such a happy husband. ha
After
the concert we went to Sports Comedy. It's basically a improve game
show like a clean version of 'Who's line is it anyways"! I don't think I
have laughed that hard in such a long time. We are so glad we found
this place and will most likely go back as often as we can. The only
picture we got with them didn't exactly turn out (stupid phone) but it's
all we got! Oh and then we went and made little bombs in the park! And
before any of you report us, it was just with mentos and pop. Our real
ones didn't turn out... ;)
Sister Stone is home!! A lot has changed since she left 18 months ago...but our cousinly love has not! ;)
Best Cousins Forever!
